About SOFA

The Heartland Chapter of the Society for Financial Awareness is devoted to serving financial education across America and locally in the Greater Cleveland/ Northeast Ohio Area.

Who we are


  • SOFA is a 501(c)(3) non profit public benefit corporation, founded in 1993, dedicated to providing financial education across America, one community at a time.
  • Comprised of nation-wide professionals with various specialties that provide valuable services to their communities (an important one being presenting our informational workshops to individuals, companies, and organizations)
  • Events designed to educate and help attendees understand a variety of financial topics and concerns
  • Member base includes Financial Advisors, Estate Planning Attorneys, Insurance Professionals, Accountants, Realtors, Mortgage Brokers, Credit Counselors and Health & Wellness Practitioners.
  • We've had the privilege to work with various prominent companies and organizations across America, whose years of continued success have provided us name recognition and a reputation of excellence.
About Our Services

What we do


  • SOFA members donate time in the community conducting no-cost, no obligation financial seminar workshops
  • Seminars satisfy the Department of Labor's ERISA 404(c) Requirement for companies offering any type of defined contribution pension plan to employees.
  • Workshops cover variety of valuable topic-specific information, conducted at no cost and no obligation to attendees.
  • Workshops generically introduce various types of financial products to enlighten the attendee on their proper purpose, with the relevant intent of each speaker to keep workshops informative, entertaining, and educational
Explore Employee Seminar Topics

SOFA provides two easy ways to experience seminars and engage in services by our members:

  1. Brown bag "lunch and learn" format, usually presented at organizations, conducted in conference room, fellowship hall, gathering place, etc.
  2. Sponsoring organization may provide food/refreshments (strictly an option provided by the company)
  3. SOFA members are considered invited guest, not responsible for associated costs with organization hosting
  4. All content and promotional pieces are provided by the SOFA member for dispersal to their people three weeks in advance.
  5. Our members choose a lunch/dinner seminar format
  6. They elect to promote, sponsor, provide food/refreshments, and all costs associated with marketing the workshops to invited attendees
  7. May be conducted in restaurants, hotels, public libraries, etc.
